Jay R. Spector, CFP
Partner, Wealth Advisor – Barton Spector Wealth Strategies
Jay R. Spector, CFP is a founding partner of Barton Spector Wealth Strategies along with his long-time friend, Sharon Barton. He and Sharon want to provide a customized approach to wealth planning and investing for their clients, with their best interest as their cornerstone.
Jay started his financial advisory career at AG Edwards. Earlier on in his career, he served as an assistant to former U.S. Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt in Washington, D.C. During his time there, he attended The Johns Hopkins University where he earned a Master of Science in Real Estate.
Jay moved back to his home state of Arizona where he served as executive director of the Arizona Water Infrastructure Finance Authority (“AZWIFA”) in the administration of former Governor Janet Napolitano. Preceding that role, he worked as a finance investment banker where he continued to help cities and towns with their municipal finance plans.
Financial planning became a passion since he earned his Bachelor of General Studies in Business Administration at Northern Arizona University. After his time as a vice president of municipal finance at RBC Capital Markets, he moved to the financial planning side of the industry.
Jay has served on the city of Scottsdale’s Environmental Quality Advisory Board, U.S. EPA’s Environmental Financial Advisory Board and the Fiesta Bowl committee for 7 years where he was twice Chairman. He is now a Life Member of the Fiesta Bowl Committee.
He’s also active with Arizona Alumni Chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity, Board of Directors for Arizona Helping Hands (“AHH”), a foster care resource organization, and volunteer member of USA Swimming.
