As the 501(c)3 nonprofit partner of Valleywise Health, Arizona’s public teaching health system, Valleywise Health Foundation raises philanthropic support for critical patient and program needs. Key funding areas include burn survivorship care, innovative behavioral health programs and teaching tomorrow’s healthcare professionals.

Valleywise Health is home to the Arizona Burn Center, one of the state’s largest and longest-running physician training programs and is the largest provider of inpatient psychiatric care in Arizona.

JOB SUMMARY:
As a member of the Advancement team, proactively develop and manage a portfolio of corporate, foundation and individual prospects with a giving capacity of $25,000+. Design and execute the identification, strategic cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and other activities related to seeking five- to six-figure corporate and foundation investments. You’ll be responsible for managing and cultivating relationships with existing prospects, as well as identifying new prospects.

• Articulate the Valleywise Health Foundation and Valleywise Health missions, strengths, and priorities to external partners, finding areas of collaboration and working to articulate the case for support.

• Develop and cultivate partnerships with major corporations and local businesses to raise support through programmatic investments, formal grant processes, event sponsorship and cause marketing campaigns.

• Identify emerging business leadership and industry trends with special emphasis on developing “high-value exchange” corporate alliances.

• Review corporate profiles that suggest potential relationships because of common interests. Research and identify giving patterns of local, regional, and national corporations and foundations.

• Create annual stewardship plans for each corporate and foundation donor to strengthen relationships and facilitate further support.

• Collaborate with colleagues across the Foundation and Valleywise Health to gather information necessary for gift proposals, reports, and communications with corporate and foundation donors.

• Working with staff and colleagues, develop effective grant and proposal materials, case statements, presentations and decks, conceptual plans, letters of inquiry, acknowledgment letters, budgets, progress and stewardship reports, and other donor communications.

• Appreciation and prioritization of stewardship when managing donor relationships (consistently prioritizing the “thank you”).

• Develop and leverage relationships with Valleywise Health Foundation Board Members for cultivation and solicitation of donors, as appropriate.

• Help lead post Valleywise Health Grand-Opening cultivation strategy – create opportunities for continued engagement from corporate leaders/companies.

• Document strategies and activity in Execute To Win (ETW) and Raisers Edge (RE).

• Reports to Associate Vice President, Development. Works closely with the CEO, Chief Advancement Officer, and Senior Director of Strategic Implementation.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Demonstrated achievement in frontline fundraising and securing and stewarding philanthropic investments.

• Strong local connections, corporate connections, and experience with healthcare fundraising.

• Self-starter able to secure personal appointments and qualify new prospects.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a growing team that prioritizes culture, mission, and professional development.

• Solid knowledge of principles and techniques of fundraising, preferably in health care.

• Ability to develop written correspondence and communicate with senior-level executives.

• Ability to present to small groups and individuals.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
• Positive attitude and a cheerful countenance while working with a diverse group of supporters, clients, and staff.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate confidently and clearly.

• Detail oriented with strong organization skills.

• Creativity to develop new ideas for fundraising activities as it relates to cultivation and stewardship.

• Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

• Ability to follow directions and ask questions.

• Ability to learn database management procedures.

• Education or relevant work experience.

• Interest in professional development opportunities as determined by VHF leadership.

This position is a full-time position. Base pay, benefits and bonuses will be determined by the skills of candidate.
