“I was born and raised in Arizona, and we lived right across the street from Valleywise Health from the time I was in first grade up until high school. I vividly remember walking down Roosevelt Street with my mom and sisters at age 10, awed by the towering hospital. I walked by and saw nurses and employees standing around and wondered what it would be like working there one day when I became an adult.
In February 2017, I joined Valleywise Health as a Patient Access Specialist. Since then I have been able to grow and work in different positions. I take so much pride in my work and want to learn as much as I can.
Valleywise Health aims to provide opportunities for growth within our staff and my journey is a testament to that. I am blessed to have been part of many changes, as well as, see how much the organization has grown in the last six years. The company’s vision of serving underserved communities really hit close to home because I grew up in a Hispanic household where free services, like backpack drives, helped my parents a lot financially when I was a child. To think that I once was just a kid who grew up living across the street. I would have never thought I would be here today. I am truly blessed to be a part of Valleywise Health.”
