Development Coordinator, Community Engagement

JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President of Development, the Development Coordinator, Community Engagement supports and participates in the strategic implementation of Valleywise Health Foundation’s advancement initiatives including fundraising, stewardship, communication, and special events. This position will have a special focus on outreach into the local business community, particularly Latinx-owned companies. As a member of the Foundation’s Advancement team, the Development Coordinator will develop and implement new programs to identify and cultivate opportunities for engagement with local community business leaders, stakeholders, and potential partners in support of contributed revenue. This position will develop and execute community outreach events, such as cause-marketing campaigns, corporate employee giving campaigns, networking and community tabling events, and manages a portfolio of small to mid-size individual donors, corporate and foundation prospects. The Development Coordinator plays a key role in advancing the Foundation’s mission to support Valleywise Health, the community’s public teaching health system and works closely with the AVP and Director of Corporate Relationships.
SCOPE:
The Development Coordinator manages a robust portfolio of 150-200 donors, with a primary focus on securing gifts generated from cause-related and community-based campaigns. The Development Coordinator will work to develop and implement a robust and comprehensive grassroots outreach process that reflects industry best practices for engagement with the local business community.
• Articulate the Valleywise Health Foundation and Valleywise Health missions, strengths, and priorities to corporate and community partners, finding areas of collaboration and working to advance the case for support.
• With AVP and Director of Corporate Relationships, identify and create schedule of community engagement opportunities within established networks such as Chambers of Commerce, ACEL, Rotary Clubs, etc.
• Identify and develop the materials and tools needed to cultivate, solicit, and steward partners.
• Develop annual campaigns to engage corporate and local business and community leaders, their employees, and customers in supporting Valleywise Health Foundation through monetary donations.
• Inform Foundation’s social media strategy to promote community engagement programs and campaigns.
• Recruit volunteers from the Foundation Board, Valleywise Health and Grateful Patient base to serve as advocates and champions in the community.
DEVELOPMENT:
• Manage a portfolio of 150-200 corporate donors with a focus on securing gifts and engaging local businesses, particularly Latinx-owned companies.
• Develop and cultivate partnerships with corporate and local business and community leaders to raise support through cause-marketing and community engagement campaigns.
• Identify emerging business leadership and industry trends with special emphasis on developing “high-value exchange” corporate alliances.
• Review corporate profiles that suggest potential relationships because of common interests and conduct outreach by email, phone and in-person visits.
• Create annual stewardship plans for donor prospects to strengthen relationships and facilitate annual support.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Foundation and Valleywise Health to gather information necessary for proposals, reports, and communications with donors.
• Working with the Advancement Team, develop effective campaigns and materials, case statements, presentations and decks, conceptual plans, letters of inquiry, acknowledgment letters, progress and stewardship reports, and other donor communications.
• Internally document strategies and moves management using the Foundation’s Raiser’s Edge NXT database platform and ETW, the Foundation’s accountability platform.
• Represent the Foundation at community and networking events to strengthen current relationships and identify new opportunities for engagement.
COMMUNICATION:
• Work with the Marketing and Communications team to create, develop, and implement innovative cause-marketing campaigns that celebrate and drive engagement.
EVENTS:
• Attend and assist with all Foundation fundraising and donor engagement events.
• Attend external community and engagement events.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Aptitude and willingness to create connections, place cold calls, make in-person visits.
• Self-starter able to secure personal appointments and qualify new prospects.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a growing team that prioritizes culture, mission, and professional development.
• Knowledge of principles and techniques of fundraising and desire to grow knowledge and experience in a health care setting.
• Ability to develop written correspondence and communicate with senior-level executives.
• Ability to present to small groups and individuals.
• Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to relate well to, and build positive, productive relationships with business owners and community leaders. Must be a skilled collaborator and team player, creating relationships built upon mutual trust.
• Detail oriented with strong organization skills.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Raiser’s Edge.
• Ability to follow directions and ask questions.
• Ability to learn database management procedures.
This position is a full-time position. Base pay and benefits will be determined by skills of candidate.
