Meet Auggie Rosales: Protecting Our Community, Supporting Our Mission
For the past 15 years, Auggie Rosales has helped make Valleywise Health a safer place.
As Security Manager, Auggie oversees security operations at the main hospital and Valleywise Health’s community health centers. It’s a role that requires professionalism, compassion and the ability to build trust. Because security officers are often called during stressful situations, Auggie hopes every interaction helps patients and visitors see his team for what they are: people who are there to help keep everyone safe.
“Our goal is to provide a safe workplace for our staff,” Auggie said. “We want employees to feel comfortable coming to work every day and know they’re going to be safe. We’re here for our employees, our patients and our visitors.”
That same commitment to serving others is what inspires Auggie to give through Heart of Valleywise Health.
Growing up in Chandler, Auggie remembers what it was like to have two hardworking parents doing everything they could to provide for their family. After-school and community programs gave him and his siblings a safe place to spend time, offered meals and activities, and provided opportunities his family might not otherwise have been able to afford.
Those experiences stayed with him.
“Those programs made a difference for my family,” Auggie said. “Now that I’m in a position to give back, it’s important to me because I know there are kids and families out there who are struggling just like mine did. This is my chance to pay it forward.”
Today, Auggie supports the Foundation through employee giving and also looks for opportunities to contribute during Foundation events. Even when a vendor sponsors his participation in the Foundation’s annual golf tournament, he still makes it a point to contribute.
“I want to do my part,” he said. “I want to feel like I’m contributing and helping support the Foundation.”
Over the past 15 years, Auggie has watched Valleywise Health grow tremendously while holding onto the close-knit culture that first drew him to the organization.
“I came from a much larger health system where I felt like just another number,” he said. “When I came to Valleywise, it was completely different. Even though we’ve grown so much over the years, we’ve kept that small-hospital feeling where people genuinely care about each other.”
Whether he’s helping keep employees safe, supporting patients and families, or giving back through Heart of Valleywise Health, Auggie believes every act of service matters.
