The Need for Support
The United States is facing a dramatic shortage of anesthesia professionals. Over 30% of all anesthesiologists will retire in the next decade, and the gap is growing fast. As more individuals retire and surgical demand rises, hospitals, especially public safety net institutions like Valleywise Health, must act now to train and retain skilled anesthesiology talent.
Despite increasing demand, anesthesiology residency slots are limited, leaving thousands of qualified medical graduates without a path to this essential specialty.
